Welcome to my personal website!

I’m Jason Ansell — a Toronto-based builder, author, and co-founder of Vector Smart Chain (VSC).

I’ve spent the last 25+ years working at the intersection of technology, digital business, and brand development—but today, my focus is simple:

Build. Write. Ship. Repeat.

What I’m Focused On Now

Building the Infrastructure for What Comes Next

I’m currently co-building Vector Smart Chain (VSC) — a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain designed for real-world usage, not speculation.

Alongside it is VSG (Vector Smart Gas) — the native token powering the network.

The goal isn’t hype.

It’s predictability, usability, and long-term infrastructure:

  • Flat, predictable transaction costs
  • Scalable architecture for real applications
  • A system designed for builders, not just traders

This isn’t theory — it’s actively being built, tested, and deployed.

Writing Books That Actually Help People

Over the past year, I’ve focused heavily on writing and publishing books that simplify complex topics in crypto and Web3.

Not fluff. Not hype.

Practical, usable knowledge.

My work includes:

  • Understanding Web3: The Beginner’s Guide to the Decentralized Internet
  • Understanding Blockchain: A Beginner’s Guide
  • Understanding DeFi: Unlocking Passive Income in Crypto
  • The Dark Side of Web3: How to Spot and Avoid Crypto Scams
  • WTF Is Crypto?: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

All of my books are designed with one goal:

👉 Help people avoid mistakes and actually understand what they’re using

Building in Public

Everything I work on connects back to a larger vision:

  • Open, accessible education
  • Real blockchain utility
  • Tools that people can actually use
  • A stronger, more informed Web3 ecosystem

Through my blog, products, and projects, I document that process in real time.

No filters. No pretending.

Just building.

A Bit of Background

I was born in 1980 and raised in Toronto, Canada.

I’m a self-taught developer and entrepreneur — no traditional path, no formal playbook.

Over the years, I’ve:

  • Built and scaled digital products
  • Worked with brands, businesses, and startups
  • Developed platforms, tools, and online systems
  • Adapted through multiple waves of the internet (Web2 → Web3 → beyond)

That experience shapes how I approach everything today:

Focus on what works. Ignore what doesn’t.

What You’ll Find Here

This site is a mix of:

  • Insights on crypto, Web3, and technology
  • Real-world breakdowns of trends (without the hype)
  • Lessons from building in public
  • Updates on VSC, VSG, and related projects
  • Writing, books, and experiments

WTF Does It All Mean?

The internet is changing again.

Most people are either:

  • Distracted by noise
  • Or waiting for permission

I’m not doing either.

I’m building infrastructure, writing what I learn, and sharing it openly.

If you’re doing the same — or thinking about it —

you’re in the right place.
